JQN The Label

Internship Opportunity

For 6 months, I had the amazing opportunity to be a design intern at JQN the label.  Working for a small newly opened business meant wearing multiple hats.  I mainly assisted the owner with creating their second collection.  I did this by sharing original ideas on the design, fabric choice, and sources of inspiration/research.  I even got the opportunity to show some of my design ideas, which was incredible! 
After we finalized the sketches, I was then tasked to create the samples for our designs: which included gathering materials, draping and drafting patterns, cutting out pattern pieces, assembling and constructing garments, and communicating with the designer if any changes needed to be made.  
I drew up all the technical flat sketches of the designs in Adobe Illustrator which were used for a line sheet to show retailers.
I also got to dip my toes in the social media world by assisting the social media team with Instagram captions and post ideas.
